Origins
Was a refugee in Paris from Croatia. First witnessed steaks being cooked on charcoal in small Middle Easten restaurants in the Latin Quarter. Came to Melbourne in 1959, and got Vlado's going from a $700 loan from Melbourne band-leader Dennis Farrington.
